GCA 2021-Rupert Owen

International events organiser Montgomery Asia announces today that Geo Connect Asia (GCA), the highly anticipated flagship geospatial and location intelligence industry trade show and conference for Southeast Asia, returns to the physical sphere this June to explore fast-developing solutions in the geospatial community. GCA 2022 is expected to host more than 50 leading companies from around the world and attract 2,500 professional visitors and delegates.

Themed “Geospatial & Location Intelligence Solutions for Asia – Underground, Land & Sea to Sky”, GCA 2022 will run on 1 and 2 June 2022 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore. The Conference will address key issues of data collection, storage, interoperability and utilisation. With the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics a Geospatial 4.0 world advances one step closer to becoming a reality.

Visitors can look forward to a comprehensive showcase of the latest technologies and solutions for government and non-for-profit markets and multiple industry verticals.

The event will be held alongside its two complementary industry profiles – Digital Construction Asia (DCA) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Asia – and will comprise a virtual component on www.GeoConnectAsia.com where participants can schedule meetings, meet exhibitors and watch the live streaming conference online for virtual delegates.

GCA 2022 will be graced by Guest of Honour Edwin Tong SC, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law, who will deliver the opening address. Also in attendance will be Colin Low, Chief Executive of the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) who will deliver the industry address. The opening panel discussion, “Stepping into the metaverse - meanings, myths & opportunities”, will be led by Keith B. Carter, Director of NUS Ripple FinTech Lab & Co-Director of CRYSTAL Centre, Information Systems & Analytics Department, School of Computing of National University of Singapore, Pavel Bains, Co-founder and Executive Producer of MixMob, Richard Koh, Chief Technology & Security Officer of Microsoft Singapore and Zurina Moktar, Head of Science & Technology Division of The ASEAN Secretariat.

Rupert Owen, Co-Founder of Geo Connect Asia, said, Montgomery Asia is delighted to run the second edition of GCA with a more exciting programme line-up and in doing so meet the growing demand for geospatial, digital construction and drone solutions in a solutions-focused marketplace of overlapping technologies. We look forward to our continued collaboration with SLA as we collectively facilitate the knowledge transfer and sharing of key issues and best practices in these arenas.”

Geo Connect Asia Conference

With the theme “Imagination meets reality: placing geospatial solutions at the heart of decision-making”, the Geo Connect Asia Conference 2022 will facilitate knowledge and insights sharing among industry players to address some of the world’s leading challenges in the geospatial and location intelligence community. Packed into two full days, the conference will comprise over ten fireside chats featuring over 60 prominent industry speakers, panellists and moderators including Tim Stonor, Architect & Urban Planner of Space Syntax, Nina Yang, Vice President of Singapore Institute of Planners, John Whitehead, Senior Director of Sales and Distribution, APAC of Trimble Inc, Kevin Weil, President of Product and Business at Planet, and Faheem Khan, President Asia of Hexagon Geosystems, among many others.

The main conference themes range from the possible impact of the metaverse though to the use of drones for good and goods:

  • Stepping into the metaverse - meanings, myths & opportunities

  • Fresh starts through innovative thinking: how urban planning in Asia can meet challenges, set new standards and deliver thriving places

  • Managing the future of urban data – how to address the key issues of structure and sovereignty

  • Recycle, renew, refresh: the repurposing of the urban landscape

  • Biodiversity and the greening of communities

  • Building in climate resilience - connecting data and digital twins for sustainable communities

  • Accessing multiple sources of mapping information for sustainable information exchange

  • Geospatial innovations for sustainable transportation and customer satisfaction

  • Earth observations & satellite innovations

  • Stepping into the metaverse – challenges & opportunities for the geospatial community

  • Geo AI & robotics: pathways to improving performance using tracking, location and automation solutions

GCA 2022 is also curating three expert stage programmes, namely Digital Construction Asia Masterclass, UAV Asia, and Digital Underground Connect. These programmes, with limited seating capacity, will act as deep-dive classes for participants to expand their knowledge on the latest geospatial challenges and solutions.

The show floor will also incorporate a theatre to facilitate a non-stop and free-to-attend series of Tech Talks on geospatial, digital construction and drone industry developments.

Meanwhile, industry professionals who are unable to attend GCA 2022 in person may attend a series of webinars, schedule online matchmade meetings or utilise event quick chat functions via the virtual event page.

Ng Siau Yong, Director, Geospatial & Data Division and Chief Data Officer at SLA, who is this year’s strategic partner said, “Geospatial technology such as locational data and 3D mapping has tremendous potential to address climate challenges. It could also play an integral role for next stage of the Metaverse development. To this, SLA is pleased to work alongside Montgomery Asia to provide the geospatial community with an avenue for deeper industry collaboration to accelerate the region’s geospatial capabilities and tap on these emerging opportunities. At this edition of GCA, we also look forward to exchanging insights with the community in the areas of 2D and 3D geospatial data collection, development, utilisation and management.
